Biography

Martin Weppler, 400 metre runner, ran the first leg of the West German 4x400 relay at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Also nominated for the 1980 Moskva Games, he did not start due to the US-led boycott. Weppler had his greatest moment winning the 1978 Europeans with the 4x400 relay. At the 1981 European Indoors he claimed a silver medal in the 400. At the 1983 Worlds he was eliminated in the 400 metres first round and ran in the heats of the 4x400 relay. The same year he earned his only West German title with the relay. By profession, he was a trained dental technician.

Personal Best: 400 – 45.74 (1983).
