Biography

A sprinter/hurdler, Vaneglis Moiropoulos competed at the 1932 and 1936 Olympic Games, while representing Ethnikos Gymnastikos Syllogos. An 11-time Greek champion, Moiropoulos won titles in the 110 hurdles in 1925 and 1927-29 and in the 400 hurdles from 1925-31. He was Balkan Champion in the 400 hurdles in 1929 and 1931 and helped Greece win the 4x100 relay in 1930. Moiropoulos set two Greek records in the 110 hurdles and six in the 400 hurdles.

He later entered politics, serving as leader of the Greek mission to Smyrna in 1971. In sports administration Moiropoulos was President of SEGAS and vice-president of EOE.
