Biography

Luciano Caravani was a sprinter who represented Fiamme Oro Padova (the police athletics club) and his personal best 100 metres was 10.23, done in September 1979 in Mexico City, while his best 200 metres was 20.59, set in Algiers in July 1979. He competed at the 1976 Olympics where he was sixth in the 4x100 relay (first leg) and was eliminated in the 100 m quarter-finals. At the Mediterranean Games he won a silver medal in the 1975 4x100 relay behind France, while in 1979 at Split he won the 200 metres in 20.74, and helped Italy win the 4x100 relay. Between 1975-83 Caravani earned 34 international caps. In the Italian championships he won gold in 1977 in the 100 and in 1975 in the indoor 60 metres.
