Yoshio Iimuro

Yoshio Ilmuro took up track and field athletics as a schoolboy, but his career was interrupted by World War II. After the conflict ended, he took his talents abroad and had his greatest international moment at the 1951 Asian Games, when he won the inaugural triple jump event. His next stops were the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where he finished sixth, and the 1954 Asian Games, where he took home silver. He retired shortly after this tournament and had a lengthy career in education, serving on his home prefecture’s board of education for many years. He also served in several sports administrative roles and authored at least one book on track and field athletics.
