Biography

Sprinter and long jumper François Mersch competed in the 100 and long jump at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but did not make the finals in either event. Domestically he won 25 national titles in the 100, 200, long jump and several relays. In 1943 Mersch also participated in the German Championships and finished sixth in the long jump. From 1961-62 he was president of the Luxembourg Track and Field Association. He then wrote several works on the history of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.6 (1939); LJ – 7.44 (1938).
