Biography

Fidel Negrete was a distance runner whose top title was the marathon gold medal at the 1963 Pan American Games in São Paulo. He also won a silver medal in the half-marathon at the 1962 Central American and Caribbean Games in Kingston, Jamaica. Negrete ran the marathon at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He later competed in Masters and veterans competition, before dying from a heart attack at age 84.
