Biography

Marino Zanatta was an Italian basketball player. A guard, he was considered the best sixth man in Serie A in the 1970s, playing for Ignis Varese. With Varese he won four Italian titles (1973-74, 1977-78), an Italian Cup (1973), an Intercontinental Cup (1973), and four European Champions Cups (1972-73, 1975-76), with seven consecutive finals. In 1978 he joined Pallacanestro Milano and ended his career back with Varese (1980-81) and a season in Vigevano, in A2 (1981-82).

Zanatta played on the national team from 1969-76, playing at the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games. He won a bronze medal at the 1971 and 1975 European Championships, and helped Italy win its first victory over the United States (66-64) at the 1970 World Championships. Zanatta earned 169 caps during his career.
