Biography

In the years prior to World War I, Henry Olsen was one of the best all-round track and field athletes in Norway. At the Norwegian championships Olsen won 24 medals across multiple events, including six golds. After winning a couple of bronze medals during the 1900s, his breakthrough year came in 1911 when he won gold in the standing high jump, silver in the shot put, and bronze in the 110 metres hurdles, long jump, standing long jump, and javelin. The following year he retained his title in the standing high jump before winning gold in the 110 metres hurdles, standing long jump, shot put, and discus at the 1913 championships. Olsen also competed at the 1908 London Olympics where he came 13th in both the high jump and triple jump.

Personal Bests: HJ – 1.78 (1918); LJ – 6.62 (1908); TJ – 13.82 (1908).
