Biography

During the first half of the 1920s Ernfrid Rydberg was one of the best pole vaulters in Sweden. Rydberg won his first medal at the national championships in 1919 when he finished third to take home the bronze. The following year he won his first of three national titles, with further golds coming in 1922 and 1924. These were interspersed with silver in 1921 and 1923, and a bronze medal in 1925. Rydberg competed at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics where he finished fifth with a best vault of 3.60 metres.
