Biography

Czechoslovak sportsman Karel Nedobitý was a long-distance runner, trainer, and sports official who won multiple races during the 1920s and 1930s. Nedobitý was an eight-time champion of Czechoslovakia, setting multiple national records in distances from 5kms to 10kms. He ran in the 5,000 metres at the 1924 Paris Olympics where he finished in 11th place in his heat. Four years later he ran in both the 5,000 and 10,000 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, finishing in 17th place in the latter. Nedobitý became a coach at the České Budějovice sports club where he trained multiple athletes with him also founding the Okolo Hluboká nad Vltavou road race. He later worked with the YMCA and wrote several books on athletics.

Personal Bests: 5000 – 15:37.4 (1928); 10000 – 33:10.8 (1928).
