Biography

Somsakdi Boontud was a member of the Thai 4x100 m team from 1972 to 1983, at that time a leading team in Asia. They won gold in Asian Games both in 1974 and 1978, and 4 silver medals in Asian Games or Championships in the period 1979-1983. He was also in the squad for the first World Athletic Championship in 1983. Boontud started in two Olympic Games. In 1972, his team did not survive the first round, but four years later they advanced to the semi final.

His only international appearance in an individual event was on 200 m in the Asian Championships 1975. He qualified for the final, but had to withdraw due to injury.

Personal Best: 100 – 10.4 (1979).
