Biography

Yelena Ruzina won most of her international medals in the 4x400 relay, except at the 1993 European Cup, where she won both 400 and 4x400 relay golds. In 4x400 relay, Ruzina won golds at the 1992 Olympics and 1990 Goodwill Games, adding silvers at the 1990 European Championships, 1992 World Cup, 1993 World Championships, 1994 Goodwill Games, and the 1995 World Indoors. Individually she was eliminated in the semi-finals of the 400 at the 1990 Europeans, 1992 Olympics, and 1993 Worlds. Ruzina was the Russian 400 champion in 1993. Ruzina worked as an athletics coach in Voronezh after finishing her sports career.

Personal Best: 400 – 50.65 (1990).
