Biography

Throughout his career Vietnamese sportsman Ho Thành Chinh played football and basketball in addition to competing in track and field. Ho was known primarily as a footballer, playing in goal for Ho Chi Minh City Customs during the 1960s and 1970s. From 1966 to 1975 he also represented the South Vietnam national team, winning silver at the 1967 SEAP Games in Bangkok, Thailand.

On the track Ho was a talented sprinter, winning multiple gold medals in the 100 and 200 metres at the Southern Athletics Championships. In 1964 he represented South Vietnam in the 100 metres at the Tokyo Olympics. Whilst in the Army he was a champion javelin thrower in his regiment and was also on the basketball team.
