Biography

During the 1920s Dimitrije Stefanović became the champion of Yugoslavia in the 5,000 metres, 10,000 metres, and the marathon. Stefanović set multiple Yugoslavian records in both the 3,000 and 5,000 metres, in addition to winning multiple marathon races across Southeast Europe. At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics he had the honour of being the flagbearer for Yugoslavia at the Opening Ceremony. Stefanović also ran in the marathon at the Amsterdam Games where he finished 53rd.
