Biography

Irish-born William Anderson moved to Scotland with his family when only six months old. He was a member of Glasgow Olympic when he placed second in the 1904 Scottish 880 yards championship behind fellow Olympian John McGough. He won the title in 1905 after moving to Bellahouston Harriers and, after joining Partick AC, was third in 1907. He was runner-up in the 440 yards championship in 1906-07 and in won the 880 yards in the Scotland vs. Ireland match at Edinburgh in 1905. He moved to Saskatchewan before the outbreak of World War I, and during the hostilities served as a private with the 5th batallion Canadian Infantry.

Personal Bests: 440y – 53.0e (1907); 880y – 1:58.8 (1905).
