Biography

Israeli tennis player Gilad Bloom competed professionally from 1986 to 1995. He achieved his career-best singles ranking of 61 in the world in October 1990, and 62 in the world as a doubles player in February 1992.

Bloom won his first doubles title with countryman Shahar Perkiss at the 1987 Tel Aviv Open. Bloom won three more doubles titles in his career, with another win in 1987, and two wins in 1991. At the 1988 Seoul Olympics Bloom competed in both the singles and doubles tournament. Four years later, he competed in the singles tournament at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Bloom competed at all four Grand Slams in both singles and doubles. As a singles player he reached the fourth round of the US Open in 1990. His best performance in the doubles was when he and Paul Wekesa of Kenya reached the quarter-finals of the 1992 Australian Open. Bloom represented Israel in the Davis Cup from 1984 to 1995.
