In the early 1930s Canada’s Elizabeth Fisher was a successful figure skater who won multiple medals in competitions in North America. Fisher won two golds in the fours at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships (1930, 1931), along with six other medals in fours and singles competitions, along with medals at the North American Figure Skating Championships. In the space of ten days in 1932 she finished 13th in both the women’s singles competition at the Lake Placid Olympics and the World Championships. After her skating career Fisher served as a Wren during World War II, and later worked as a volunteer at the Royal Ontario Museum.
