Biography

Austrian single’s figure skater Claudia Kristofics-Binder finished 16th at the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Olympics and seventh four years later at Lake Placed. She won two World Championship bronze medals in 1981 and 1982, and was elected Sportswoman of the Year in Austria in both those years.

In 1981 Kristofics-Binder added another bronze medal at the Europeans and her greatest moment came in 1982 when she became European Champion. Domestically, she won the national title six years in succession from 1977-82. In 1982 Kristofics-Binder turned professional and toured with Holiday on Ice.

She studied sports science and then worked as a lecturer at the University of Vienna at the Institute for Sports Science. She became a state-certified trainer and choreographer. She also worked with the Austrian TV channel ORF in their sports department.
