Biography

Cross country skier Renate Köhler participated in the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics and, after her marriage, as Renate Fischer at the 1972 Sapporo Games. Her best results were sixth and the fifth places in the 3x5 km relay. In 1970 she was a member of the 3x5 km relay team that won the first East German medal in cross country at the World Championships (silver). She also won four East German national relay, and two individual, titles, in the 5 km event (1969 and 1970).
