Renzo Furlan

Renzo Furlan was an Italian tennis player who played professionally from 1988 to 2004. Furlan achieved a career-best singles ranking of 19 in the world in April 1996. Furlan won his first ATP Challenger singles title at the Tampere Open in July 1990, beating Spain’s Fernando Luna in straight sets. On the ATP tour he won two singles titles in 1994 with victory against Michael Chang at the San Jose Open, and a win against Karim Alami at the Grand Prix Hassan II. His best result at a Grand Slam came at the 1995 French Open when he reached the quarter-finals.

Furlan competed in the singles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. In Barcelona he reached the third round before losing to Jordi Arrese in straight sets. Four years later he improved on his performance by reaching the quarter-finals where he was beaten by Leander Paes.
