Biography

David Belam served in the Royal Regiment of Artillery in the British Army where he reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. In addition to his military career, Belam was a keen cross-country skier who represented Great Britain in international competitions. During the early 1990s he competed at multiple World Cup and FIS events, and participated in two Olympic Games. Belam made his Olympic début at the 1992 Albertville Games, competing in four events with a best result of 53rd in the 50 kilometres. Two years later he competed in three events at the Lillehammer Games. For his military service Belam was awarded with an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2001.
