Domestically, Mărgărit Blăgescu was best known as a rugby union player and he represented Romania internationally eight times in that sport between 1952 and 1957, in addition to playing for the military for several additional years. At the Olympics, however, he took part in the bobsleigh tournament at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Games and placed 14th in the two-man, with Heinrich Enea, and the four-man, alongside Enea, Dumitru Frățilă, Nicolae Moiceanu, and Dumitru Peteu. For his contributions to sport, he received Romania’s Sports Merit Order, 2nd class. In addition to serving in the army, by career Blăgescu was an economist and a sports teacher.
