French bobsledder René Charlet competed at two Olympic Games either side of World War II. Charlet was part of the four-man team in the second French sled at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics where they failed to complete the first of four runs. After the war he had a much improved result at the 1948 St. Moritz Games with the French team finishing ninth. His brother André was a successful ice hockey player who competed during the 1920s.
