Bodo Ferl was a member of the four-man bob East Germany II that finished eighth at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. At the World Championships he won a silver in 1985 and bronze in 1989. Ferl was a track and field athlete (shot putter) before he turned to bobsledding.
