Biography

Harry Glaß was born in Klingenthal but was not related to the other ski jumpers coming from that town. He was the first East German Olympic winner in 1956 at Cortina d’Ampezzo. He won the East German Championships in 1954, 1955, 1956 and 1958. He was coached by Henry Glaß, although they were not related. His career ended after 1960 due to a fall during the Four Hills Tournament at Bergiselschanze, although he attempted a comeback without success. Glaß was a Volkspolizei police man.
