Biography

Greg Harrell played football as a tight end at Chowan Junior College in North Carolina and later for the University of Maryland. Never drafted, he was on the taxi and developmental squads in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers and Los Angeles Raiders. Harrell also played Arena Football in 1989 and in NFL Europe with the London Monarchs. He heard about bobsledding at an Arena Football League tryout camp and used his athletic abilities to make the 1992 US Olympic team, but it was controversial. Originally not chosen for the team, Harrell petitioned to be named to the team, citing irregularities in the selection process, and the ruling was upheld in court. Harrell has since become a founding member and serves on the board of directors of a nutritional supplement company.
