Biography

Hans Hohenester finished eighth in the two-man bob with Anderl Ostler at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics. At the 1953 World Championships at the same venue Hohenester won the silver medal in the four-man event with Ostler, Heinz Wendlinger and Rudi Erben. In 1954 Hohenester won his only West German title, in the four-man event. Hohenester later became an international referee and was a member of the jury at the 1972 Sapporo Winter Games. From 1964-80 he was the West German Bobsleigh Association sports director.
