Biography

Gaetano Lanfranchi worked in the family’s clothing empire. Like his brother Agostino he was into car racing, with his Bugatti, and motor boating, an interest which was later also shared by his wife. In St. Moritz, he practiced skating, skeleton and bobsledding and competed together with Agostino in the 1932 Winter Olympics in the Italian two and four men bobs. Gaetano supported ecclesiastical institutions and the restoration of churches, and was the first mayor of Cologne near Brescia after the end of the Fascists’ reign, and was also the president of the Italian Sports Centre of Brescia. He died on his 82nd birthday.
