Biography

Dr. Géza Lator played defender for BKE Budapest, the dominant team in Hungary during the 1930s. He competed at the 1928 Winter Olympics, two Europeans (1927, 1929), and two World Championships (1930, 1931). Initially he was a member of the bandy team of BKE Budapest but focused on ice hockey after the mid-1920s. In the 1933-34 season, he played in Romania for Universitatea Cluj. After his active career Lator acted as coach of the national team at the 1938 World Championships. He later founded the Hungarian National Hockey League and its his first president. In 2011 he was posthumously inducted into the National Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.
