Paavo Honkajurri graduated from the Helsinki Institute of Technology and then became a mining councillor and directed various businesses. He was Managing Director and a member of the Board of Directors of Rauma-Repola Oy from 1952-76, and was made Chairman of the Board in 1976. Honkajurri was involved in sports both as a yachtsman, taking part in various cruises and regattas, and in administration. He was Chairman of the Finnish Ice Hockey Association from 1952-57 and became Chairman of the Finnish Golf Union in 1969. Honkajurri became an IOC Member in May 1967 and served until his resignation in October 1981.
