Raja Bhalindra Singh

.Raja Bhalindra Singh became a Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) but he was best known in India as a cricketer. He played briefly for Cambridge University in 1939, appearing in one first-class match against Northamptonshire. Most of his career was played for Southern Punjab and Patiala in India. He had one century of 109, made for Southern Punjab against Northern India in 1943-44. In his career he played 13 test matches with a batting average of 21.77 and a bowling average of 27.00

Bhalindra Singh was co-opted onto the IOC in 1947 and served until 1992. He was President of the Indian Olympic Association from 1960-75 and 1980-84. Bhalindra Singh was considered responsible for bringing the 9th Asian Games to Delhi in 1982 and organizing them. His son, Randhir Singh, was a five-time Olympian in sport shooting, appearing from 1968-84. He later succeeded his father as an IOC Member, serving from 2001-14, after which he became an Honorary Member.
