Biography

Shane Mack played outfield for the USA at the 1984 Olympic demonstration baseball tournament. Mack played in college at UCLA. He was selected by the San Diego Padres with the 11th pick of the 1984 Major League Baseball Draft. After a few years in the minors he came up to the majors in 1987 with the Padres and played in the bigs until 1998.

Mack was with the Padres from 1987-88, but then played for the Minnesota Twins in 1990-94. From 1995-96 he was in Japan playing with the Yomiuri Giants, but then returned to the US in 1997 with the Boston Red Sox, and then played his final season split between the Oakland Athletics and the Kansas City Royals.

Mack finished his career with a batting average of .299, with 398 RBIs in 923 games. He played for the Twins in their 1991 World Series triumph. Mack was inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in October 2002. He is the brother of Major League outfielder Quinn Mack.
