Biography

Although born in Johannesburg, South Africa, fencer Richard Breutner was a member of the German foil team that placed sixth at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Individually he reached the quarter-finals and finished seventh. At both the 2006 and 2008 World Championships, Breutner won silver medals with the foil team. At the 2004 Europeans he had his greatest moment when he won the individual gold medal. He also won two bronze medals, with the team in 2002 and individually in 2003. Nationally, Breutner won his only title in 2006.
