Biography

Ado Baltus was the son of Georges Baltus, with whom he also co-operated. Ado Baltus later became a painter, draftsman, decorator, and architect and director of the Academy of Etterbeek. In his youth he focused on depicting trains, cars and military topics. He studied until 1943 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. In a long career of 50 years Baltus produced many sketches and paintings of Italian landscapes, especially in Venice. As an architect, he participated in the restoration of the Galerie Ravenstein and the Palais d’Egmont in Brussels. From 1955-60 he was head architect of the 1958 Expo in Bruxelles (Brussels).
