Biography

Nicolas Escudé was a French tennis player who played professionally from 1995 to 2006. Escudé achieved a career-best singles ranking of #17 in the world in June 2000 and a doubles ranking of #35 in the world in January 2003. He won his first singles title in September 1999 with victory over Daniel Vacek in Toulouse. Arguably his biggest win came two years later when he beat Roger Federer in the final of the Rotterdam Open. Escudé won two more singles titles in the early 2000s, as well as two doubles titles in 2002. His best Grand Slam performance came at the 1998 Australian Open, losing in the semi-finals to Marcelo Ríos. Two years later he competed in the singles and doubles at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
