Biography

Swedish tennis player Andreas Vinciguerra had a promising start to his career when he finished as the runner-up in the boys’ singles at the 1998 Australian Open. Vinciguerra turned professional later that year, achieving a career-best singles ranking of #33 in the world in November 2001 and a doubles ranking of #261 in the world in February 2001. His professional career, however, was hampered with a serious back injury, and he won only one ATP title in 2000. That same year he also played in the singles at the Sydney Olympics, where he beat Christian Ruud (NOR) before losing to the eventual silver medallist Tommy Haas (GER). Vinciguerra made a comeback in 2006, reaching the finals of several ATP Challenger and ITF Futures tournaments, before retiring in 2013.
