Biography

Ice hockey player Dieter Niess finished eighth with the German team at the 1952 Oslo Winter Olympic Games. He played for VfL Bad Nauheim and Düsseldorfer EG in West Germany, but in his youth he played for Rastenburger SV in East Prussia. He was later inducted into the German Ice Hockey Hall of Fame.
