Biography

Luzius Rüedi was born in Thusis but grew up in Davos and played defense for HC Davos from 1922-30, then played one season with Zürich AEHC, before finishing his career with two seasons on the ice for Grasshopper Club Zürich, retiring in 1933. He won four Swiss titles with HC Davos in 1926-27, and 1929-30. Rüedi played for Switzerland at the 1930 World Championships, winning a bronze medal. That same year he also helped HC Davos to a runner-up finish in the Spengler Cup tournament, after helping them win that crown in 1927.

Rüedi graduated from the Zürich University School of Medicine in 1925 and later practised as an otolaryngologist in Vienna (Wien) and Bern. In 1948 he became director of University Hospital in Zürich, where he served as an otolaryngology professor through 1970.
