Biography

Paul Stevens slid for the Saranac Lake Sports Association in 1932 and he accompanied fellow team members, Henry Homburger, Ed Horton, and Percy Bryant, to the 1932 silver medal. With the same team, he also won the 1931 and 1932 North American and AAU 4-man titles. A few years later, after Curtis had retired from sledding, Paul joined brother Hubert to win the AAU 2-man championship in 1935. Paul Stevens served as a lieutenant commander in both world wars. Between wars, he helped out with the family hotel business and also managed an auto business near the Lake Placid area. Stevens was a noted auto mechanic, having been a crew member with Ralph Mulford’s car racing team in 1920’s.
