Biography

Johan Støa participated both in the Winter and Summer Games in 1928. He was Norwegian Champion in athletics twice, winning the 10,000 metres on the track in 1924 and cross-country running in 1925. In skiing he was national champion in the 30 km cross-country in 1927. He was a man of endurance challenges. In 1935 he set a cycling record, covering the distance from Trondheim to Oslo in 21-56:50. He also twice set a walking record for the same distance – his best was 4 days 7 hours and 47 minutes in 1936 – and was also an excellent marathon swimmer. Støa ran a sport store in Drammen and was awarded the Egebergs Ærespris in 1926.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-54:15 (1928).
