Biography

Jan Einar Thorsen skiied the World Cup circuit from 1987-94, winning the Super G seasonal World Cup title in 1993-94. He won three World Cup races, two in Super G and one in giant slalom, winning in Super G at Val d’Isère in December 1992 and at Vail in March 1994, and winning his GS at Crans-Montana in January 1994. Thorsen was also the 1985 Norwegian Champion in the downhill.

Thorsen competed at three Olympic Winter Games. In 1992 at Albertville he won bronze in the Super G, placing fifth that year in the downhill. He just missed another medal at Lillehammer in 1994, finishing fourth in the giant slalom.
