Biography

Doru Tureanu was a high-scoring forward, known as the greatest scorer in Romanian hockey history. Tureanu played his entire career, from 1970-87 with Dinamo Bucuresti. In addition to his two Olympic appearances in 1976 and 1980, Tureanu competed at 10 World Championships, although only in 1977 did Romania for the A Division. He played seven times in the B Division at Worlds (1972-76, 1978-79), and twice in C Division (1971, 1985). Tureanu won six national titles with Dinamo. Records are incomplete for the Romanian leagues in that era, but he average more than one goal a game throughout his career. He was sought by CSKA Moskva and the Montreal Canadiens but never left Romania for league play. Tureanu was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2011.
