Biography

Ice hockey forward Fritz Walter played with EK Engelmann Wien (Vienna) (1945-47), Wiener (Vienna) Eislauf-Verein (1947-48), Wiener (Vienna) EG (1948-49) and Preußen Krefeld in Germany (1951-54). Walter won the Austrian national titles from 1946 and 1948-49.

Walter also played for Austria at the 1947 World Championships, helping them to a bronze medal. As the Worlds doubled as the European Championships in that era, he also gained the European bronze. At the 1948 St. Moritz Winter Olympics the Austrian team finished seventh.
