Biography

German whitewater canoeist Kordula Striepecke finished sixth at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, when canoe slalom became a permanent fixture in the Olympic program after its first appearance in 1972. Four years later at Atlanta, she came a disappointing 11th. At World Championships she won individual bronze medals in 1991 and 1995, when she also won a team bronze medal. She added a team gold in 1997. At the Europeans she collected one more silver and bronze medal with the German team in 1996 and 1998. In 1993, she won the overall World Cup.

Striepecke won national titles in 1994-95 and 1997. She later turned to coaching and became competitive sports advisor at the Canoe Federation of North Rhine Westphalia.
