Biography

German whitewater canoeist Manfred Berro partnered with Michael Trummer in the Canadian doubles at the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympics. The pair finished ninth and fourth respectively. Both also won the gold medal at the 1996 European Championships. Berro also won three team bronze medals at the Worlds, in 1991, 1995, and 1997. Nationally, Berro and Trummer won four titles in the former GDR (1988-89) and reunified Germany (1993 and 1995).

Berro later became an entrepreneur organizing rubber dinghy and canoe tours on the Saale. In 2015 he took over the Saaleschifffahrt Bad Kösen with the seasonal passenger service between the city and the Rudelsburg as well as the operation of the local ferry. In April 2017, Berro also took over the ferry service on Blumengrund in Naumburg (Saale).
