Biography

East German ski jumper Manfred Wolf placed fifth on the large hill at the 1972 Sapporo Winter Games. He also came in 38th on the normal hill. Wolf held the ski flying world record of 165.0 metres from 1969-73, which he set in Planica, Slovenia. He later became an entrepreneur in Steinbach-Hallenberg. His parents also were entrepreneurs and they had rich relatives in West Germany; therefore, Manfred Wolf was somewhat ostracized within the East German national team.
