The ski jumping program for the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympics had two significant changes from the 2022 edition. The first was the addition of a women’s large hill event, which had first been held at the World Championships in 2021, bringing the total number of events to six. The second was a modification of the men’s team large hill event to the “super team”; instead of four jumpers competing in two rounds, two jumpers now competed in three rounds. At the Games, however, the third round was cancelled due to weather conditions, with the winners decided based on the results of the first two rounds. Ski jumping was held in the Giuseppe Dal Ben Ski Jumping Arena, which had been built in 1989 and previously hosted, among other events, the 1991, 2003, and 2013 World Championships. It was also the venue for the Nordic combined in 2026.
The medal table at the 2022 Beijing Olympics had been fairly diverse, with Slovenia being the overall medal winner and the only nation to win two events. In Milano-Cortina, Norway was dominant, led by Anna Odine Strøm, who won both of the women’s individual events, as well as silver in the mixed team normal hill. Eirin Maria Kvandal also took silver in the individual large hill, while the nation won a fifth medal with bronze in the super team.
Slovenia’s Domen Prevc was also a double Olympic Champion, capturing the individual large and team normal hill titles, while Nika Prevc added two more medals with silver and bronze in the individual normal and large hills respectively. Japan was the third nation to win four medals, albeit none of them gold; Ren Nikaido took silver and bronze in the men’s individual large and normal hills respectively, as well as bronze in the team normal hill. Nozomi Maruyama added another bronze in the women’s individual normal hill. The men’s individual normal hill bronze medal was awarded to two competitors, Nikaido and Switzerland’s Gregor Deschwanden.
