In 2026, the Olympic men’s large hill team event was modified to a super team competition; instead of four jumpers competing in two rounds, two jumpers now competed in three rounds. This meant that the most recent world champions, Slovenia, had to select only two of their jumpers to compete. The two selected were Domen Prevc, who had taken gold in both the team normal hill and the individual large hill, and Anže Lanišek, also a team normal hill champion. World runner-up Austria chose Jan Hörl and Stephan Embacher, while third-placed Norway had Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal, who had taken silver in the team normal hill, and 2018 Olympic team large hill gold medalist Johann André Forfang.

Hörl and Embacher took the gold medal decisively, winning the first two rounds before the third was cancelled due to a snowstorm. This left the Polish team, comprised of Paweł Wąsek and individual large hill bronze medalist Kacper Tomasiak as surprise runners-up; they had been in third after round one, but then put on an impressive performance to move up in the second round. The Norwegians, who had a disappointing performance in round one and were sixth, improved in round two and managed to edge out the Germans by 0.3 points to claim bronze. The Slovenians, who had a strong start by coming in second in round one, faltered in the subsequent round and dropped to fifth.
