The men’s slopestyle event centered on China’s Su Yiming, the 2022 silver medallist and World Cup leader, alongside Japanese challenger Taiga Hasegawa and Canadian veteran Mark McMorris, three-time bronze medalist and a pioneer of the sport. The qualifications suggested a tightly contested final, but weather disruptions delayed the medal round and added another complication to the competition.
In the final, Su landed an impressive opening run worth 82.41 points and never relinquished first place. Hasegawa came close with 82.13 to earn silver, while American Jake Canter took bronze, putting up a 79.36 in his last run. Several leading contenders crashed while attempting more difficult runs, leaving Su’s first-run score unbeaten, earning China its first gold medal of the 2026 Milano Cortina Games, on his 22nd birthday.
