Manuela Zanchi achieved the greatest success of her sporting career when she won Olympic gold with the Italian women’s national water polo team, known as “Setterosa”, at the 2004 Athens Games.
Zanchi played for Canottieri Milano, Rari Nantes Bologna, Pallanuoto Lerici, Rari Nantes Pescara, Florentia, Varese Olona Nuoto, and finally Orizzonte Catania, where she won the Italian Top League in the 2008/09 season.
For her sporting merit, Zanchi received some coveted awards including a Commendatore (Commander) from the President of the Republic (like all her teammates who won in Athens), and the Collare d’Oro (Golden Collar), a prestigious recognition from CONI.
